    UNDP funds training programs for the Business Women Forum (BWF) an organization whose mission is to empower women and create opportunities, as well as recognize the gender dimension to poverty. BWF is solely committed to supporting the achievement of the MDGs, with a specific mandate of translating the eradication of poverty goal into tangible results. UNDP funded a training program for women farmers, because it believes that empowering women farmers improves food security for all.

    The report: “Access to Justice and the Rule of Law” points out that the UNDP works with national partners to develop national strategic plans and programs for justice reform and service delivery and supports justice needs and capacity assessments to analyze demand and supply for services, creating a baseline for monitoring and evaluation.

    For the first time in the history of the UNDP, the UN Agency finally honored the Girl Child. UNDP pays special attention to the empowerment of and investment in the girl child: “It is critical for economic growth, the achievement of all MDG’s, including the eradication of extreme poverty, as well as the meaningful participation of girls in decisions that affect them.”

  • Swaziland On The Path For Phasing-Out Ozone Depleting Substances Jan 15, 2013

    Swaziland was recognized by the Montreal Protocol Secretariat for the effort demonstrated to significantly decrease the consumption of ozone depleting substances (ODS) in the country. In an event held in Nairobi, Kenya in September 2012 the country received a certificate from UNEP for the strides made by the Kingdom in phasing out ODS. Leadership has been steered by the Swaziland Environment Authority, National Ozone Unit (NOU) that has been working with UNEP since 2007 to build national capacity central to facilitate sustained practices in the phasing-out of ODS in the country.
