What We Do
UNDP is a global knowledge network advocating for sustainable human development and connecting countries to knowledge, experiences and resources to help societies build a better lives. UNDP works with countries to develop and implement their own solutions to development challenges. Aligned with the National Development Strategy of the Kingdom of Swaziland (1997-2022), under the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (2016-2020) and UNDP has committed to supporting the government following areas:(a) poverty and inequality reduction, inclusive growth and sustainable development; (b) equitable and efficient delivery and access to social services; and (c) good governance and accountability. The Swaziland Country Office UNDP contributes to the UNDP Strategic Plan through three mutually reinforcing and supporting the following outcomes: inclusive economic growth and sustainable development; resilience and risk reduction, incorporating sustainable natural resource management; and good governance, equity and citizen participation. Such upstream oriented support seeks to foster transformational change indicating promoted accountability and transparency through citizen participation for inclusive sustainable development. The programme promotes an equitable and human rights- based approach to development e.g. increasing voice and participation especially among women and children.

Projects and Initiatives
The project aims to support the Government of Swaziland with the implementation of the Swaziland Constitution. UNDP has focused on capacity strengthening of key governance Institutions created by the constitution; strengthen national capacities for the promotion and protection of rights especially gender equality including greater involvement of women in political participation and decision making structures. more
